2017 Rose Summer's Blush, Sonoma Valley
The 2017 growing season was warm and moderate, allowing for even grape ripening and a true expression of varietal flavor development throughout the Kunde Estate. This Rosé is made primarily from Zinfandel grapes but blended with Syrah, Grenache, Sangiovese and Merlot. Harvest began early in the morning which helps to preserve the natural acidity and adds phenolic texture, enhancing the mouth feel of the wine. The Zinfandel juice was allowed to soak on the skins for 12 hours prior to being pressed, which developed the lovely blush color. Cold fermentation maximized the delicate aromas and crisp acidity. The wine was aged in stainless steel for four months before the final blending and was bottled in February 2018.
“Rose is the quest for the ultimate patio sipper – here’s how we roll at Kunde. The grape skins are allowed to soak just a few hours to keep the color faint and lightly rose-hued. Picking the grapes early helps preserve a natural acidity enhancing the mouth feel. We want the wine to be refreshing, but we don’t want you to forget about that crisp flavor too. Meant to be paired with your next garden party, this one is fun for all.”
