2016 Chardonnay - Wildwood Vineyard, Sonoma Valley
Another beautiful growing season for Chardonnay fruit has helped us to create this stellar wine. 100% barrel fermentation was completed in small French oak cooperage followed by extended aging sur lies. All barrels were stirred biweekly giving the wine a lovely depth and a rich creamy character. The wine was aged for 11 months in French oak (39% new) and bottled in August 2017.
“This wine showcases some of the richer Chardonnay flavors we grow here on the Kunde Estate. With a focus on mouthfeel and mix of nice structure and cream characteristics, this 100% estate grown wine is a great representation of the variety. The clones used in the blend are two of the highest percentages grown on the Kunde Estate and create lovely bright orange zest and melon components in the finished wine. With the palate richness so evident, I look forward to crab season with a little extra butter on the side.”
